We sought to evaluate the use of oral administration of sildenafil citrate (Viagra) by men aged 18 to 65. Patients were randomly assigned to receive either sildenafil citrate (n = 60), placebo or placebo-containing doses for 4 weeks. The primary outcome was the change in systolic blood pressure (SBP) from baseline to endpoint in patients receiving sildenafil citrate. The secondary outcomes were change in systolic blood pressure (SBP) from baseline to endpoint, and change in HDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides, total-fat, free-fat free-lipid and HDL cholesterol levels from baseline to endpoint.
